Focusing on emergency prevention

2009.06.09

On June 9, 2009, E.ON hosted a troubleshooting day in Pécs in cooperation with organizations involved in emergency management. Senior staff members from the police, the fire department, the ambulance, emergency management and the mining authority participated in the event, whose goal was to provide comprehensive insight into the work of the E.ON group, share experiences, develop further opportunities for cooperation and discuss related proposals. E.ON also offered to provide professional assistance, consulting and supervision to projects in the European Capital of Culture 2010 program to help prevent accidents.

Several accidents occurred in and around Pécs in the past few years as a result of ignoring or breaking occupational safety rules and regulations. Since Pécs has several construction projects in the works as part of the European Capital of Culture 2010 project, it is important to remind developers and contractors about the importance of acting responsibly and observing occupational safety rules and regulations at all times.

"Preventing accidents and guaranteeing the security of supply are in the interest of everyone involved. This is why we considered it important to organize a professional forum where our experts and their opposite numbers at the organizations involved in emergency management can meet and share their ideas and experiences," said Lajos Gelencsér, managing director of E.ON Dél-dunántúli Áramhálózati Zrt

In the forum, E.ON staff members presented an overview of the company group's troubleshooting procedures and processes and their technological background in electricity and natural gas supply. Afterwards, they joined the representatives of the police, the fire department, the ambulance, emergency management and the mining authority to discuss further opportunities to improve prevention and cooperation in emergency management.

At the event, E.ON also offered to provide professional assistance and consulting to projects in the European Capital of Culture 2010 program to help prevent emergencies and ensure supply security. "Our experts will be available to help contractors with the obligatory utility coordination tasks and provide them with professional supervision. We hope that all the contractors will meet their obligations in this regard. We will also conduct volunteer site visits to help prevent accidents by keeping an eye on the key construction areas," said András Hasenauer, managing director of E.ON Dél-dunántúli Gázhálózati Zrt
