The number of E.ON customers choosing to manage their accounts online has tripled
2010.03.08
The number of E.ON customers managing their accounts online is constantly growing, and even more people are interested because of the recent contests. The purpose of the Internet system is to provide an easy, quick, comprehensive and safe opportunity to manage accounts that customers can access anywhere at anytime. There are currently nearly 160,000 people taking advantage of this state-of-the-art way to manage accounts, which shows a significant increase over the 45,000 users at this time last year.
E.ON announced a contest ending March 15, 2010 to make this service even more popular. In the contest, customers who use online customer service not only manage their accounts easily and quickly, they have a chance to win one of three Ford Fiestas if they answer the quiz at www.eon.hu. As a result of the promotion, the number of people registering every day for online account management has doubled and more than 10,000 people are participating in the contest.
Why is online account management good for customers?
- All your bills are stored in the system for future reference
- You can give your meter reading (and get an e-mail reminder to do so)
- You can ask for your account balance, and you can request or send the necessary information
or documents for taking care of various matters
- You can make bank transactions (changing your bank account number, for example)
- Direct debit – the system automatically fills out the necessary form with the customer’s data
- You can get copies of your bills and postal orders
- You can get notifications, and you can even ask for information about your balance
on a daily basis
- You can handle everything for every partner number with a single login (this is particularly useful
for local governments – one institution has several point of consumption)
- You can reregister
- You can report problems with public lighting
In the autumn of 2008 E.ON introduced interactive online account management connected to the billing system, which means that it provides individual and current information. The company’s previous experience shows that using the system does not cause customers any special difficulty. There were 45,000 users in the first half of 2009, and 160,000 people are registered today, which means that the number of people managing their accounts online has tripled in only one year. It is worth noting that 14% of all of the contacts with customer service in 2009 were made by Internet.
E.ON in Hungary
E.ON is Hungary’s leading energy group and for years has been one of the three largest companies in the country in terms of sales revenue. As a major player in the Hungarian economy, we are active in every area of creating energy value, including power generation, power and natural gas trading and supplying end consumers.
E.ON Hungária Zrt has power supply companies operating in western and eastern Hungary and gas providers in western Hungary. The Group provides nearly two and a half million customers with electricity and supplies gas to over half a million consumers. The Group also operates several state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly power plants with capacities of less than 100 MW. As a major player in the domestic heat energy market, the company is also the district heating supplier and partner of several cities and companies.
The Group also includes E.ON Földgáz Trade Zrt. As Hungary’s largest natural gas trader, the gas it buys is consumed by most of the household consumers in Hungary. Since imports and domestic production are not enough to supply the country in the winter, the underground natural gas storage facilities owned by E.ON Földgáz Storage Zrt also play a prominent role in satisfying winter gas demand besides the natural gas imported by E.ON Földgáz Trade Zrt. As the largest commercial natural gas storage company in Hungary, E.ON Földgáz Storage operates four underground natural gas storage facilities with a total storage capacity of 4.3 billion cubic meters.
In order to improve the security of energy supply, E.ON invested HUF 87 bln (EUR 323 mln) in Hungary in 2009 to upgrade its gas and electricity distribution networks, expand its natural gas storage capacity, and build new power plants. The company spent another HUF 20 bln (EUR 74 mln) on maintenance for its gas and electricity distribution networks.
We have nearly 5,000 employees today who are able to take advantage of E.ON’s international experience when doing their jobs.
