Our CSR Projects

Energy Experience

Under a cooperation agreement, effective until December 31, 2010, the education ministry and E.ON will launch a joint educational program that will include all of the elementary schools and high schools in Hungary. The aim of the program is to significantly increase energy awareness in Hungary in order to support sustainable development. E.ON's energy education program is a complex program that fosters creativity and emphasizes the development of the students' competence as well as their acquisition of information-based knowledge.

Energy is Value. People in the 21st century, however, are usually unaware of its value until there is a brief blackout or the gas mains are being replaced and the gas is turned off in the neighborhood because of construction.

• Where does the energy we use day after day come from?
• How did it come into being?
• How does it get to our homes?
• What can I do to use less energy?
• What are carbon dioxide emissions, and what does the greenhouse effect mean?
• How will wind cook our dinner?

The E.ON Energy Experience, a large-scale educational program based on international experience and learning provides answers to all these questions and more.
Its purpose is to assist teachers in raising energy awareness by increasing students' energy-related knowledge and developing their skills.
E.ON is an international company that thinks and acts responsibly, and its objective in supporting the Hungarian education system is to teach children to think and to analyze evidence. They should realize that in the world of energy, as in all other areas, everything has advantages as well as disadvantages. These advantages and disadvantages must be carefully considered when making decisions.
The Energy Experience's teaching materials and assignments were prepared, and will be prepared in the future as well, in accordance with the National Core Curriculum and the guidelines for unified science education.

Energy Experience offers four different packages for four age groups: younger children will familiarize themselves with energy through examples taken from their homes, while older students can develop their skills by learning about the energy supply of the entire planet.
Energy Experience offers effective teaching and learning methods for teachers as well as for students both young and old.

The key topics are:
- learning about various energy sources;
- advantages and disadvantages of using renewable and non-renewable energy sources;
- opportunities for energy generation in the future;
- the local, national and global effects of energy-related decisions;
- the path that energy takes from the sources to the places where it is used;
- the most important energy safety rules;
- global principles of energy conservation and practical ideas for conserving energy in the home.

In addition to learning the most important facts and figures, students can make virtual decisions when doing assignments in connection with the generation, distribution and use of energy, and they can even see the effects of those decisions. The Energy Experience also offers students an opportunity to actively get to know the energy-related aspects of their environment and to use their energy awareness to help transform their environment.
E.ON designed the exciting interactive teaching material in close cooperation with education experts.
