Ballet Pécs
E.ON devotes particular attention to supporting the Ballet Pécs.
Pécs has a great ballet tradition. In 2001 Gábor Keveházi, recipient of the Outstanding Artist Award and the Kossuth Prize, the most prestigious cultural awards in Hungary, took over direction of the company. Dancer Balázs Vincze has been the director since 2005. Under Vincze’s direction, Ballet Pécs has been making a spiritual return to its roots and creating a new and unique style and form of expression in the process. The troupe, which has always been open to new trends in dance, includes a wide range of styles in its repertoire. The company is focusing on creating works that appeal to young people in an effort to cultivate a new generation of dance aficionados.
As the company’s sponsor, E.ON has been providing support to help stage the new productions created since 2001 and offering scholarships to help get the careers of young talents underway.
