City of Painters Festival – Kaposvár

E.ON’s most recent sponsorship project is the City of Painters Festival in southwestern Hungary.

Every year at the end of May Kaposvár, the hometown of painter József Rippl-Rónai, offers its visitors spectacular productions, free concerts, arts and crafts fairs and outdoor exhibitions. The purpose of the festival is to turn Kaposvár into a rendezvous for contemporary painting and other arts where the public can learn about art in an interactive setting.

The three-day City of Painters Festival has been held every year since 2001. It is during the festival, on May 23, that Kaposvár celebrates the anniversary of József Rippl-Rónai’s birth. The festival looks beyond the relatively narrow audience of art lovers and tries to appeal to local residents and visitors of all ages and interests.

Taking classical and contemporary art outdoors provides yet another opportunity for both the young and the more established artists who might one day be big names in the art world. This is what E.ON is trying to help make possible.
